Questions
What is an ATS and why does it matter?
An applicant tracking system is software that stores and organizes applications, and parses your resume into structured fields before a human reviews it. Most large employers use one. The common claim that it auto-rejects most resumes is not well supported: the widely quoted number traces back to a 2012 sales claim from a company called Preptel, which shut down in 2013 without ever publishing a study, and Greenhouse's own documentation states its AI does not score or rank applications. The real and provable risk is parsing: if the software extracts your experience incorrectly, the human reads that garbled version. Bounce shows you exactly what it extracts so you can fix what breaks.
Will Bounce add skills I do not have to match a job?
Never. Bounce only re-emphasizes and rewords your real experience. A term the posting asks for that your own words do not support is kept out of your keyword list, stripped from the summary, and listed as a gap instead. Your bullets are rewritten from your own material rather than filtered term by term, so read them before you send: that is what the gap list is for.
Is the ATS scan free and private?
Yes. The scan is free and runs entirely in your browser: your resume file is never uploaded or stored. If you unlock the score, we store the name and email you type plus that scan's findings, because that is what we email you.
